Lake Atitlan is a 2.5 hour drive from Guatemala City or about a 2 hour drive from Antigua. The town of Panajachel is the most convenient and closest town to access by car from both Guatemala City and Antigua.

The village of El Jaibalito is accessible only by boat. We recommend a private boat for first time visitors and travelers desiring more comfort and convenience. Private boats depart from the "playa publica" in Panajachel. Please contact us via email or phone and we will be happy to arrange that transportation.

For the more adventurous traveler the public boats are safe, affordable and run every half hour in both directions from the Tzanjuyu dock. These public boat taxis will stop at any village, town, or hotel at your request. Tell the captain or his assistant to take you to El Jaibalito. Expect the fare to our village to be around 20 quetzales. We recommend you carry exact change for boat transportation. The last public boat leaves Panajachel at 7:30pm. The last public boat going back to Panajachel passes by Jaibalito around 5:30 pm.
